Our Research

Our department hosts the DFG-research unit Questions at the Interfaces. Members of our department participate in the cluster of excellence The Politics of Inequality, in the coordinated research programmes What If?, The Multilingual Mind, Quantitative Methods for Visual Computing, and Robust Argumentation Machines (RATIO) as well as in numerous individual projects.

The future of linguistics lies in the close integration of linguistic theorizing with empirical investigation. Our department boasts several linguistic laboratories outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment. Here we carry out experimental and corpus-based studies in speech production and perception, psycholinguistics, and neurolinguistics as well as computational linguistics.
