There is some recent evidence for a ‘bilingual advantage in working memory’ but the data for such an occurrence are not conclusive. The findings are contradictive, with some studies questioning the advantage and some failing to replicate results. Some studies did not find it at all. In this literature review paper, we attempt to answer questions about the function of working memory among bilinguals and to give some reasons why we are having conflicting data.
